The policies, procedures, resources and information herein pertain to all faculty with HMS/HSDM appointments, regardless of employer. The vast majority of faculty are not employed by Harvard University; instead, the school’s 16 clinical affiliates and research institutions provide compensation and benefits for many faculty members as their employers. Corresponding local human resources offices should be the first contact about institutional policies and procedures pertaining to faculty as employees.
HMS/HSDM faculty who are employed by the University can obtain detailed information about additional employee benefits from Harvard Medical School Human Resources or Harvard School of Dental Medicine Human Resources or online at Harvard University Human Resources.
The Office for Academic and Research Integrity (ARI) at HMS is responsible for implementing the policies and guidance adopted by the Faculty of Medicine and Harvard University, as well as the policies and regulations promulgated by the federal government and its agencies, in the areas of outside activities and other conflicts of interest, professional integrity, research misconduct, and academic integrity. The major areas addressed by the HMS policies are abbreviated here. For the full authoritative version of these policies, please visit ARI’s website.
