Harvard Medical School

Section 3 Table of Contents

The Faculty Grievance Procedures apply to allegations brought against any person possessing an academic appointment in the Harvard Faculty of Medicine (HMS/HSDM) for conduct pursuant to the HMS/HSDM Unprofessional Relationship and Abuse of Authority Policy, and for conduct that occurred before September 1, 2023 pursuant to the HMS/HSDM Unprofessional Relationship and Abuse of Authority Policy, the HMS/HSDM Anti-Discrimination Policy and/or the HMS/HSDM Abusive and/or Intimidating Behavior Policy.

When allegations of violations of the HMS/HSDM Abusive and/or Intimidating Behavior Policy, the HMS/HSDM Anti-Discrimination Policy, and/or the Unprofessional Relationship and Abuse of Authority Policy are brought against any person with an academic appointment in the Harvard Faculty of Medicine (HMS/HSDM faculty), the Faculty Grievance Procedures will apply.

These policies are administered by the Standing Committee on Rights and Responsibilities and are administratively supported by the Office for Academic and Research Integrity (ARI).

When allegations are brought against any person with an academic appointment in the Harvard Faculty of Medicine under the Harvard University Non-Discrimination and Anti-Bullying Policies (effective September 1, 2023), then the procedures documented in the Frequently Asked Question, “How do the NDAB Policies and Procedures apply to faculty at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine?” will apply.
