- A ladder faculty member may not hold two academic appointments on the Faculty of another non-Harvard academic institution if the outside appointment is associated with voting rights, is an unmodified academic title, and/or is a ladder appointment (including Instructor). Additionally, one cannot have full-time academic appointments at two different institutions.
- Unusual situations may warrant an exception to the general policy outlined above. Accordingly, the Dean should have discretion to recommend to the Provost exceptions to the non-dual appointment policy, subject to such conditions as may be appropriate to the circumstances.
- Once a faculty member has indicated a commitment to accept a faculty position that will be associated with a voting and/or unmodified title at another academic institution, any promotion process that has started will be discontinued.
