The school will offer an orientation to all faculty with initial appointments. This will take the form of targeted monthly outreach to new appointees, directing them to our Faculty Orientation Series, which consists of on-demand webinars on important topics relevant to the Faculty of Medicine. These includes an Academic Onboarding session that provides an overview of resources, digital/on-campus access and opportunities available to all members of the Faculty of Medicine, presentations about the Countway Library, the Office for External Education, the Program in Medical Education, among others. Faculty whose initial appointment is at the rank of Professor are also welcome to schedule an orientation meeting with a senior member of the OFA. The School will maintain a website that will provide information about opportunities to teach, training programs for teachers through the Academy, and information about the process for academic promotion. Resources for faculty development, including competitive intramural and extramural fellowships and leadership training, will be made available. Faculty will have access to the services of the HMS/HSDM Ombuds office for addressing concerns related to their appointment at Harvard.
